Help for Windows PCs

I'm receiving an error on my computer that says "Missing component drivers.dll" and then my program fails to open. What does the drivers.dll file do?

Drivers.dll is typically installed with software and drivers for Adaptec RAID 1200 series cards and runs as a background application while the RAID card is used by your computer. RAID (or Redundant Arrays of Inexpensive Disk) technology allows the integrated use of multiple hard drives at once. It allows your Windows operating system to treat multiple attached hard-drives as one and improves the performance and reliability of systems by allowing for larger hard-disk volume.

If you're having issues with your drivers.dll file, here are a few examples of messages you might receive:

What is causing this error?

Errors like the ones above can be an indication that the drivers.dll file has been removed or changed in such a way that makes it impossible for your program to use.

What can I do to fix this issue myself and get my software working again?

Some users have been successful at finding a copy of the drivers.dll file online and saving it into the appropriate folder on their PC (in this case, the C:\Program Files\Adaptec\drivers.dll). Download a new copy of the drivers.dll file here.

IMPORTANT NOTE: This means of adding the missing or corrupt dll file is not officially supported by Microsoft or Adaptec and should be performed with caution.

If I don't fix this, what will happen? Will my computer have other problems?

If you choose not to fix this, any applications that access this file simply will stop functioning for you. Error messages of this sort are often only the first indicators that your PC's operating system is in need of some attention. Every time you install or remove an application from your computer, important files and registry entries are altered. In time, these small changes compound and Windows has difficulty making sense of the data. Unfortunately, correctly identifiying and remedying issues with a computer's operating system is a task usually far beyond the average user's skill level. If you are experiencing a “drivers.dll missing” error, we highly recommend a free file health scan of your computer to look for other issues that may also be contributing computer's problems and go from there. Try to update drivers if you're experiencing hardware issues.

We have received a lot of emails from our readers requesting additional resources for computer errors. Some had questions regarding zip password recovery. We highly recommend Zip Password Recovery to help with this.
